Riding the Waves
The Art of Body Surfing in Contact Improvisation
with Richard Parker
In this workshop, we dive into the relationship of body surfing, one of the more playful and dynamic aspects of Contact Improvisation.
Through fluid weight exchanges, you’ll discover how to glide effortlessly across your partners, building trust and riding the waves of shared movement. We'll explore how to offer and receive support in ways that bring momentum, balance, and creativity to the dance.
Together, we’ll practice tuning into the natural flow of weight and discovering pathways for moving over, under, and through. Everyone becomes both a wave and a surfer, creating a unique connection with every dance.
This workshop invites you to stay centred in motion, navigate unexpected changes with ease, and enjoy the ride. Release control, embrace spontaneity, and uncover fresh ways to support and be supported in movement.
Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a curious beginner, this workshop is for you. You'll have the opportunity to learn from an experienced teacher, connect with like-minded individuals, and most importantly, have an amazing dance.
